We sell our own stock, from a shop you can walk into

Toolsman is not a marketplace. There are no third-party sellers, no drop-shippers and no listings for things that do not exist. Everything on this site is stock we own, sitting on a shelf at GoodHope Plaza in Nairobi.

Why that matters

Buying tools online in Kenya has a trust problem, and it is earned. Classifieds are full of listings with no stock behind them. Marketplaces let anyone list anything, so a counterfeit grinder sits next to a genuine one at a similar price. When something goes wrong, there is nobody to go back to.

A single-vendor shop fixes that by construction. If a price is wrong, it is our fault. If a tool fails, it is our warranty claim to handle. If the site says four units, there are four units — and when the till in the shop sells one, that number changes.

What we stock, and what we do not

Power tools, hand tools, electrical supplies, solar equipment, safety gear, plumbing and site consumables. We carry brands we can stand behind and where the warranty is honoured by a named service agent in Nairobi — Makita, Bosch, DeWalt, Stanley, Total, Ingco, Fluke and others.

We do not stock everything. When we cannot get something, we say so rather than taking the order and hoping. If you need something we do not list, message us and we will tell you honestly whether we can source it and how long it takes.

How we price

Prices are in Kenyan shillings and exclude VAT. If you need a KRA eTIMS VAT invoice, tick “Add 16% VAT and receive eTIMS receipt” at checkout and give us your KRA PIN and name — we email the receipt once your order is confirmed. When a product shows a struck-through price, that is what we charged for it before — not an invented “recommended retail price” designed to make a discount look larger than it is.

How to reach a person

The phone number on this site is answered during opening hours by someone in the shop who can look at the item you are asking about. WhatsApp is usually faster if you want to send a photograph of a broken part or an old model plate.
